Thenextmorning,FrankMaurranttellshiswifethatheistravelingtoStamfordonbusiness.Mrs.MaurrantmeetsthegentleSankeyinherapartment,butoutoftheblueFrankcomesbackhome.HerealizeshiswifeisupstairswithSankey,andrunsupstairs.WehearshotsandseethetwomenstrugglingasSankeytriestoescapethroughthewindow.Maurrantrunsoutwithagun.HehaskilledSankeyandfatallywoundedhiswife.
