ThisfilmisanextremelyentertainingpsychologicalthrillerwithCarrolBakerexcellentasarichAmericanwidowgettingawayfromitallatasecludedItalianvilla.Entersmartaleckdownonhisluckplayboy,LouCastel,whohassomegolddiggingmotivesbehindhisslickhipsterseductiontechniquesandhasnoqualmsabouthowhegetswhathewants.HeencouragesBaker'scharacter'sincipientalcoholismanddubiousself-esteem,bringsinhissupposed'sister'tohelpdragBakerevenfurtherintoamazeofsickmindgames,drugaddictionandgroupsex,allculminatinginadescentintonear-madnessandself-destructivedepravity.
