Gonda'sfilmspeakstominorities,individualswhohaveexperienceddisplacementandyoungadultsthroughitsprotagonist,Mara.Thestoryunfoldsinasmallvillage,threatenedbyanimpendingfloodduetotheconstructionofthereservoir.Mara,ayoungwomanyearningforcitylifeandaneducation,isboundtoherruralrootsbyherstrictfather,aRusynfarmer,whorefusestorelinquishhislandandlegacydespitetheloomingendoftheirworld.Floodexploresthethemesofadolescence,uprootingandthesacrificeofpersonaldesiresforthegreatergood.Thefilmseekstoelicitreflectionsonone'srootsandtheconceptofhome,aswellasthechallengesofnavigatingadisappearingcultureandheritage.
