In1945,MaryPickfordannouncedthatshewouldproduceafilmversionofthismusicalwiththeBroadwaycast,includingMaryMartin,filmedinTechnicolor,directedbyGregoryLaCava,andreleasedbyUnitedArtists.However,MartingotpregnantandPickfordsoldtherightstoLesterCowanatUniversalinAugust1947.AnnRonell,Cowan'swife,wrotetheadditionalmusicthatreplacedmuchofWeill'smaterial.
