GoGorillaGoisprobablymostnotableforitsstrangetitle,andthiscarriesoverintothefilm;aswhileittakesobviousinspirationfromsomebiggenreclassics;thefilmfeaturessomestrangeplottingandastorylinethatisabitunusualongenreterms.DirectorToninoValeriipreviouslydirectedtheexcellentbutcomplicatedGialloMyDearKillerandclearlyhasatalentfordeliveringconvolutedstorylinesasGoGorillaGofeaturesonetoo!ThefilmfocusesonMarco;anundercoverpoliceofficerwhoisalsoworkingasabodyguardforashadyunderworldfigure.He'salsogotabrotherwhoisnotexactlysqueakycleanandhascontactswithafewother'Gorillas'whoareinthesamelineasheis.It'snotlongbeforeourherogetsinvolvedinakidnapplotalongwithhisbrotherandhisunderworldbossandthisplotisranparallelwithaloadofothersandthewholethinggetsrathercomplicated.Luckily,however,it'sallspuntogetherwithawholeloadofactionscenes;manyofwhicharereallywelldone.We'vegottheusualcomplimentofcarchasesandfistfights,butthemainstandoutisasequencethatseestheleadcharactertrappedinanelevatorwiththebottomtakenout.Thefinalcarchase,whichinvolvesatrainalaTheFrenchConnection,isalsoverywellexecuted.TheleadroleistakenbyFabioTestiandtheactorlooksthepartandplaysitwell.TherestofthecastisfilledoutmostlybylesserknownItalianactors,buttheygetonwellasanensembleandbaddubbingaside,thefilmisaboveaverageintheactingdepartment.Thewaythatthestoryflowsdoesgetabittooconfusingattimesasweconstantlyswitchfromonethingtoanother,butatleasttheproceedingsarekeptentertainingformostoftheduration,beforeexplodinginthefinalthird.Thisfilmisnotverywellknownandassuchhasbecomeratherhardtocomeby.InthegrandspectrumofItalianpolicefilms;thisoneisnotoneofthemoreimportantonesoroneofthebest,butforanyonethatconsidersthemselvesafanofthisgenre;GoGorillaGoiscertainlyworthalookandcomesrecommended.
